AHBA is a non-profit membership organization serving agricultural employers in Napa, Sonoma and surrounding counties.

Ag Health Benefits Alliance (AHBA) has been providing affordable health insurance and other benefits to agricultural employees in Northern California since its founding as the California Winegrower Foundation in 1972. Started by a group of forward-thinking winegrape growers who shared a common goal of improving working conditions, AHBA is a non-profit member organization that supports both employers and employees. It relieves employers of burdensome compliance and administration chores and empowers them to attract and retain a healthy, productive workforce. 

For employees, having health insurance fosters well-being and financial peace of mind, while a friendly and accessible bilingual staff helps them understand and fully utilize their benefits. AHBA’s members were dedicated to providing health benefits for employees, including seasonal workers, long before it was required by law. Today, AHBA provides those benefits to more than 1,500 agricultural employees.

Becky Barlow

  • Becky oversees member services and benefits administration for the organization. She holds several employee benefits accreditations and is appointed to represent insurance carriers throughout California. Becky is President of AHBA’s Educational Foundation and serves on the board of directors for the Agricultural Personnel Management Association (APMA).

  • Abigail processes all health benefits enrollments which includes all employee/dependent adds, terms and changes. Abby assists employers with cost-sharing agreements and complex eligibility-related questions. Abby also coordinates the distribution of ID cards and all required healthcare plan documents.

  • We are pleased to introduce our new Benefits Representative, Gisella Carapia. Gisella received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Allied Health from Saint Mary’s College and is excited to put her degree to work helping Ag Health members understand their health care.

    In her role as bilingual representative, Gisella will research claim inquiries, generate local provider network listings, and introduce participants to cost-saving health plan features. During our open enrollment meetings, she will collaborate in our presentations and provide detailed benefits information.

  • Julie supports the Controller by handling many of the organizations accounting transactions. Julie works close with the Eligibility Administrator and is the point of contact for any questions concerning group health plan invoices. She also assists the Executive Director with member communications, marketing and the scholarship program.

Delmi Rivera

  • Delmi joined us in the fall of 2020, bringing human resources experience to the role of Account Specialist. Delmi assists with health plan renewals, plan design alternatives and other cost saving solutions for employers. In her new role as Account Manager, Delmi now oversees our customer service team and their interactions with members, participants and providers. Delmi also coordinates open enrollment meetings and bilingual benefits education.

Audrey Santos

  • Audrey joined the team in May 2024 bringing over 15 years of wine-industry related accounting experience to her position as Controller. Audrey handles all financial matters for the organization, including oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable and eligibility departments.  Members may occasionally interact with Audrey, typically for important year-end benefit reports.

  • Megan graduated from Hanover College of Indiana in 2025, and has since been the overseer of administrative projects, including our scholarship program. When visiting our office, Megan will be the first person you will meet, as well as the first person you will speak to when calling our main line.
